When Do Employers Have To Revise Or Update I-9 Documents?

I-9 2022 Printable – Employers are required to update the documentation of employees only when the employee’s employment authorization documentation (EAD) or the receipt is expired. Reverification must be done not later than the date of expiration for the authorization to work. The worker may be fired if the employer fails to renew the authorization. Temporary workers with work visas are advised to apply for an extension at least 90 days before expiration of their EAD. Certain categories of employment eligibility that are able to submit early EAD renewal applications could be granted automatic extensions for their expiring EADs.

Employers are able to fill in the Section 3 of the original Form I-9 provided that the original version is latest version of the form.
