What Is The Deadline For Employers To Reverify And Revise I-9 Documents
I9 Form 2022 Fillable Form – Employers must revise the employee’s documents only after the employee’s employment authorization documentation (EAD) or the receipt has expired. Revisions must be made before the date of expiration for the authorization to work. If the employer is unable to renew the authorization, then the worker’s employment may end. Temporary workers with work visas are advised to file for an extension not later than 90 days prior to the expiration date of their EAD. Certain categories of employment that file promptly EAD renewal applications may receive automatic extensions to their expiring EADs.
Employers are able to fill in the Section 3 of the Form I-9 originally used provided that it is the most latest version of the form. If the original was an earlier version of the Form I-9 Employers must either fill out Section 3 on the current version of the I-9 or complete a new I-9 completely on the current version. I-9 forms that contain green cards that have expired and then , they should not be issued again. Green cards are a permanent residence permit that is able to be used within the United States. They expire just like driver’s licenses. However, the expiration date does NOT mean that the holder has lost their authorization to work in the United States.
Employers can also update Section 3 of the Form I-9 if the employee’s name is changed. But, it’s not required to do it.
