USCIS I9 2022 – Form I-9, officially known as Employment Eligibility Verification, is an official United States Citizenship and Immigration Services form. It is required by the 1986 Immigration Reform and Control Act. It is used to verify identity and legal authorization for all employees who work in the United States. Every employer in America must complete Form I-9 correctly for each employee they hire to work in the United States.

What Is The Date By Which Employers Must Revise And Revise I-9 Documents
USCIS I9 2022 – Employers must revise an employee’s documentation only when the employee’s employment authorization documentation (EAD) or the receipt has expired. Reverification should be done before the expiration date of the work authorization. If the employer is unable to update the work authorization, then the worker’s job may be terminated. Workers who have temporary work permits are encouraged to file for an extension no later than 90 days prior to the expiration date of their EAD. Certain categories of employment that make promptly EAD renewal applications may receive automatic extensions to their expiring EADs.
If the form originally used is current employers can fill in the Section 3 of the original I-9. If the original Form I-9 is older, the employer has to fill out Section 3 or complete a completely new I-9 on the current version. Employers must attach the updated Form I-9 to the original.
If an employee issued the document in a receipt when completing the initial form I-9, he or she has 90 days to present the employer the replacement document. At that time, the employer should utilize Section 3 on the current version of the I-9 form to change the information, or draw a line along the previous information (so that it is still usable) and then add the new information, and then confirm the update. If, during the 90-day period, an employee wants to present a different acceptable document, which differs from the document the receipt was issued then the employer must complete Section 2 on a new Form I-9 and attach it to the original Form I-9 and provide a note of clarification either in the box for additional information found on page 2 of the Form I-9 or as a separate attachment.
I-9 forms that contain green cards that are expired the time they expire, they shouldn’t be issued. The green card is a permanent residence permit which can be used within the United States. They expire as driver’s licences do. The expiration date does not suggest that the person who holds the card has been unable to work within the U.S.
Employers can also modify Section 3 of the Form I-9 if the employee’s name is changed. But, it’s not required to do so.
